Injury Prevention

Dr. Tim Maggs, Director of Sports Injury, 2012 Troy turkey Trot
Note: The next program will be Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at The Record’s Community Media Lab. Dr. Maggs, family nurse practitioner Christine Cooley and Patrick Lynskey, a certified coach and trainer, will teach runners how to reach their goals injury free, adopt proper eating habits, and maintain a good exercise regimen.
The Troy Turkey Trot is proud to announce a new and exciting injury-prevention program that will be offered to all runners who plan to run the 2012 Troy Turkey Trot. The race committee has joined forces with Dr. Tim Maggs, a top sports doctor in the Capital District, to provide a hands-on running injury prevention program. This will be a first-of-its kind injury-prevention program that is directly associated with a major race, and will help many runners reach their goals with fewer injuries. Dr. Maggs will discuss structural and muscular injuries and preventive and corrective measures to address these issues. He will also discuss custom orthotics, his muscle management program and nutritional supplements. Dr. Maggs will also be available to runners via e mail with any injury related questions @ RunningDr@aol.com.
This injury program will be given twice, the first on October 16th and the second on October 30th at the Troy YMCA. Both programs will run from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
