Mayor Mantello Announces Last Chance Registration Details for 78th Running of the Troy Turkey Trot

 

TROY, N.Y. – Mayor Carmella R. Mantello today issued several reminders to individuals who will be visiting the City of Troy for the 78th running of the Troy Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28.

 

“Each year, our event gathers upward of 7,000 runners and walkers from nearly 40 states, plus participants from Puerto Rico, Canada, Germany, Iran, and the Netherlands, along with over 10,000 spectators,” said Troy Mayor Carmella R. Mantello. “It’s a chance for all of us to appreciate the charm of our historic downtown and neighborhoods as the holiday season begins. When runners, spectators, and residents work together, we can ensure a festive and safe experience for all. I look forward to welcoming everyone to Troy this Thanksgiving morning to celebrate health, community, and togetherness.”

 

Registration:

  • Registration for all events is available online through race morning at TroyTurkeyTrot.com.
  • Participants can pick up their runner’s bib and t-shirt on Wednesday, November 26 at RPI’s East Campus Athletic Village gymnasium (https://troyturkeytrot.com/gps/rpi) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Last chance in-person registration/bib and t-shirt pickup will take place Thanksgiving morning from 6:30 a.m. in the Troy Atrium(http://troyturkeytrot.com/gps/atrium). Participants can register for all events up to 15 minutes before the start of each event.

 

Event Start Times:

  • 10K (8 a.m.) — Day of registration closes at 7:45 a.m.

  • Grade School Mile (9:30 a.m.) — Day of registration closes at 9:15 a.m.
  • Turkey Walk (9:35 a.m.) — Day of registration closes at 9:20 a.m.
  • 5K (10 a.m.) — Day of registration closes at 9:45 a.m.

 

Race Day Weather Forecast:

  • Forecasters are calling for windy conditions with temperatures around 40 degrees. No rain or freezing conditions are expected.

 

5K Warm–Up:

  • For those looking to stretch their muscles before the 5K starts at 10 a.m., Choice Physical Therapy will offer a warm-up session at the back of the start line on Broadway and 4th at 9:40 a.m.

Donations to Charities: 

  • Funds raised during registration benefit the Troy Turkey Trot’s two primary charities, the Regional Food Bank and Joseph’s House and Shelter, Inc. With the public’s support, the event hopes to raise more than $20,000 to help feed hungry families and provide warm shelter to homeless men, women, and children. Participants are also asked to bring a non-perishable item to donate to the Regional Food Bank. Costume Contest:

  • The Troy Turkey Trot’s annual costume contest offers $350 in prize money across two categories: Best Thanksgiving Day Costume and Most Unique Costume. Participants can sign-up either online at the event website or at the O Snap Photo Booth in the Troy Atrium. All entries will be posted on the event’s Facebook page for fan voting, and winners will be announced the week of Dec. 2.

 

Open for Business:

  • A number of Troy businesses will be open Thanksgiving morning for those seeking refreshments. They include: 518 Craft, Bella Napoli Italian Bakery, Bootleggers on Broadway, Browns Brewing, McAddy’s Pub, and Ryan’s Wake.
